Here’s some more Rupert Quotes:

Actor Rupert Everett has described Americans as “whiny victims” whose entire language is taken from Friends and Sex And The City.

And he said we live in a repressed Victorian-style culture, obsessed with the “authority of what Posh is wearing”.

The presenter of The Victorian Sex Explorer said problems stem from people not daring to stand up and say anything.

In an interview with the Radio Times, he explained the appeal of Sir Richard Francis Burton, a 19th-century explorer and a subject of Channel 4’s Victorian Passions season.

“We’re such a world of copycats,” Everett told the magazine.

“We live in our own kind of Victorian culture: repressed, obsessed with authority - even if it’s just the ‘authority’ of what Posh is wearing.

“All the problems we have now, they’re all really about people not daring to stand up and say anything.”

Moving away from British society, Everett spoke about the United States.

“I’m totally off the States now,” he told the magazine. “The reaction to 9/11 and then George Bush - really, they’ve got very blobby as a nation.

“Now they (the Americans) are whiny victims whose language is entirely taken from two TV shows - Friends and Sex And The City - and there’s nothing sexy about them any more. And that kind of semi-blindness about the rest of the world, which was attractive when America was exciting, is really unattractive now.”

The Irony!

Rupert Everett says what he thinks about the military and he is going to be instantly bashed. Irony is, he’s talking about the same military which works to guarantee his freedom of speech.

Anyone in the military who comments on this statement is only dignifying Rupert’s comments. Do yourself a favor and ignore him!

Let him say what he will, he’s only using this statement for his own agenda.

By Kukelikuk on June 11th, 2008 at 12:38 am

Well, today’s military do have it a lot better than the veterans of the past World Wars. They’re now equipped with more sophisticated technology, they are far superiour to their enemy and face much less danger and casualties than even some hazardous civilian work. Their health care and living conditions have improved tremendously and they earn much better benefits than their forebears.

Yet, the more the military advances, the more the soldiers whine it seems. Not only that, but these would be “heroes” also behave with a greater sense of entitlement and want to be treated like rockstars
for having fought in wars which are increasingly unjustified and dirty, in spite of their superiour arms, might, “precision bombing” capabilities etc. Ever since WWII all we see is disgrace after disgrace…

I can understand that world democracy and freedom were saved from Nazism in WWII, and that NATO forces and allies were needed to keep the communists at bay. But how did Vietnam or Iraq ever threaten world freedom and democracy?

This brings me to the issue of enlisting and the human quality of the would be rockstar/heroic soldiers in question. One can feel sympathy with Vietnam veterans and casualties to some extent despite
misgivings about the justification for that disastrous war, because soldiers were drafted. But what about the people who voluntarily enlist in the military? A lot has been said about what great heroes they are to proudly and bravely serve their country…But unless they are going for a real military career or there is a pressing threat or cause to fight for, I can see no reason to voluntarily enlist just to be a “grunt”. Those who do are (I suspect) not doing it out of any heroism, patriotism or any other “ism” except for opportunism. For people with very little means, in a troubled legal and financial situation (i.e. unskilled/uneducated/unemplloyed and otherwise unemplotablebroke/in debt/in trouble with the law or even illegal aliens) enlist as a way of bailing themselves out of a sad
and pathetic situation. They enlist to go out and kill people for reasons they don’t really care about, just so they can pay some bills…Then you hear them complain when they realize how tough it is to be in a war and want to treated with as much prestige and respect and dignity for this, simply because they have lacked that for most of their pathetic lives…They are no heroes. Victims worthy of pity maybe, but not heroes. Rupert Everett was right on the money.

How dare this disgusting fudgepacking nancy-boy pass judgment on the troops in Iraq. He’s probably too much of a sissy to ever go there.

I guarantee you one thing - God and Fred Phelps aren’t the only ones who hate fags any more.

By Rock Star on June 11th, 2008 at 10:16 am

He just wants free P/R from this. He’ll get slapped around a bit and he’ll probably love it. Don’t feed into this. ignore it and you defeated his goal.

By Frisbee on June 11th, 2008 at 12:12 pm

There is no irony in those defending his freedom of speech realizing what a fucking tool he is. The iron lies in a cock smoking, fudge packer faggot calling soldiers wimps.

Most soldiers suck cock, anyway so stop calling the man a “faggot” - I mean, why else would you sign up to work in very close quarters and sleep in barracks FULL of men? It’s sexy as hell.

By Dano on June 14th, 2008 at 9:46 am

I don’t think anyone has the right to call a man or woman in the millitary a “wimp”. I guess if you classify a “wimp” as someone who trains hard, protects their country, and put their life in jeopardy on the front lines, then maybe you are correct.
I have the utmost respect for anyone who wears a millitary uniform. Wimps?? Not in my book…

By Vic on June 14th, 2008 at 10:18 am

That’s ironic…a gay actor calling soldiers wimps. How about that one…

By LILY on June 14th, 2008 at 11:13 am

Well, like bush it’s ever so easy to act very macho and gung ho just as long as you’re safe at home and out of harms way…

By Lindz on June 14th, 2008 at 11:19 am

I wonder if WW3 broke out, and this man came face to face with war in his homeland how he would react? Tuck tail and run, I bet. He will eat his words one day, for now he just wants attention.

By Laffingmya$$off on June 14th, 2008 at 11:29 am

Rupert Everett hit the nail on the head, whether you like it or not. The man is so right on the money.

By Laffingmya$$off on June 14th, 2008 at 11:30 am

Rupert Everett hit the nail on the head, whether you like it or not. The man is so right on the money. We are a nation of idiotic whiny whimps but act like we were still the number 1 in the world. No, not with these leaders, not with this army.

From the age of 7 he was educated at Farleigh School, Hampshire, and later was educated by Benedictine monks at Ampleforth College, Yorkshire, but he dropped out of school aged 15 and ran away to London to become an actor. In order to support himself, he worked as a male prostitute, or “rent boy”, for drugs and money as he later admitted to US magazine in 1997.

He’s better off being an actor than being one of those idiots who get shot to pieces in a war for oil in Irak. Whiny Wimps and pussy soldiers - God’s own country is nothing more than God’s own cunt now.
