Celebrity Gossip From Star Muscle

Miley Cyrus Vanity Fair Pictures

Miley Cyrus is taking issue with a photo of herself that’s going around, and it’s not another amateur, truth-or-dare Internet snapshot — it’s the handiwork of Annie Leibovitz. HMMMM. That evil photographer, coercing the poor Diney girl. Shame on you….hahahahahah!

“I took part in a photo shoot that was supposed to be ‘artistic’ and now, seeing the photographs and reading the story, I feel so embarrassed,” Cyrus said Sunday in a statement through her publicist. “I never intended for any of this to happen and I apologize to my fans who I care so deeply about.”

The photos, appearing in the upcoming issue of Vanity Fair, were taken by Leibovitz, a renowned celebrity photographer whose edgy, silver-toned portraits have included subjects such as Angelina Jolie, Scarlett Johansson and a naked, pregnant Demi Moore.

The Cyrus pictures accompany an interview with the 15-year-old pop star and her father, singer Billy Ray Cyrus. They include shots of the teen wrapped in what appears to be a satin bedsheet, looking over her shoulder with her back exposed.

The Disney Channel, which airs Cyrus’ TV show “Hannah Montana,” was also critical of Vanity Fair. (Yeah they didn’t know….come on!)

“Unfortunately, as the article suggests, a situation was created to deliberately manipulate a 15-year-old in order to sell magazines,” a network statement said.

A phone message left for a Vanity Fair representative was not immediately returned Sunday night. But in a statement to the TV show “Entertainment Tonight,” Vanity Fair defended its position.

“Miley’s parents and/or minders were on the set all day,” the magazine said. “Since the photo was taken digitally, they saw it on the shoot and everyone thought it was a beautiful and natural portrait of Miley

This is not going to end here! This is a scandal I can smell it.

We’ll keep you posted.

Vanity Fair fired back at Disney’s allegations that they took advantage of young Miley Cyrus. Disney’s statement made it sound like Annie Leibovitz and the editors at VF gave Miley a lollipop and told her to take her clothes off and not to tell anyone. Terrified of outraged parents response to a photo of Hannah Montana Disney threw VF under the bus hard.

A Disney spokeswoman said that “a situation was created to deliberately manipulate a 15-year-old in order to sell magazines,”
Vanity Fair’s response was to simply post these behind the scene photos of what really happened. The pictures show a happy, relaxed Miley and as far as we can tell, there is no gun to her head at any time. Good for VF for fighting back. The following statement was also posted on the VF site with the pictures.

Um, was Cyrus—or Disney—at all anxious about this shot? “No, I mean I had a big blanket on. And I thought, This looks pretty, and really natural. I think it’s really artsy.”

I will not be shown up by some faggotity country and western singer. Look at the picture of me and my daughter Brooke:

Teen sensation Miley Ray Cyrus stepped on to the stage this weekend for the first time since her controversial Vanity Fair portrait was revealed. The Hannah Montana star has kept a low profile since sparking outrage this week for the provocative photo shoot - even pulling out of a public appearance at a Disney Channel Games media party in Orlando, Florida on Friday. But the 15-year-old seemed to be in good spirits as she made her return to the spotlight at a Saturday concert for the Disney Channel. She kicked off her performance with her hit song See You Again and even debuted two new songs, Fly on the Wall and Breakout, off her forthcoming album, expected for release in July. After performing her set, Cyrus told the crowd, “I hope you had an awesome time. I saw a sign back there that said, ‘Miley, I’m praying for you.’ I could not be more appreciative. Thank you guys for all your support. Without you, none of this would be possible. I love every one of you and I could not be more appreciative. God bless you.”
