Heath Ledger Died Of A Drug Overdose
The 28-year-old Perth-born actor’s body was found in his apartment in New York. The New York Post said his apartment was strewn with pills, adding that it was unclear whether the death was intentional. Ledger was found dead in his bed in one of his residences in Soho by his housekeeper at 3.35pm New York time (7.35am AEDT).
According to the Associated Press, Ledger’s body was discovered by his housekeeper who came to tell him his masseuse had arrived for an appointment. Ledger has a two year old daughter with former fiancee Michelle Williams. He was set to play the Joker in the upcoming Batman film The Dark Knight. I will go on record saying that Heath Ledger was one of the best up-and-coming actors in Hollywood today. I know there is a 1000 and one Brokeback Mountain jokes out there, but Heath is….errr was PURE TALENT. Even in a crappy movie like Lords of Dogstown HIS performace was incredible. In a love story like Casonova, he was extremely likeable and believable. HE made that movie funny and watchable for men. And in one of the best movies of 2006, CANDY, Heath ’s character  falls in love with an art student (Cornish) who gravitates to his bohemian lifestyle — and his love of heroin. THIS MOVIE WAS SO POWERFUL and dark, I could not finish it. It had me in tears. Heath you will be missed, RIP brother.

A rolled-up $20 bill was found near Heath Ledger’s body, though no illegal drugs were found in his apartment, police said Wednesday — the same day an autopsy on the “Brokeback Mountain” actor came back inconclusive.
The bill would be taken to a lab for testing, though no visible drug residue was found on it, police said. NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly released the information at a Manhattan news conference, but did not elaborate on whether police think the bill, discovered on the floor near Ledger’s bed, may have been used to snort drugs.

A source close to the investigation has revealed to NEWSWEEK that authorities found six drugs with European prescriptions in Ledger’s apartment: Zopiclone, Diazepam, Lormetazepam, Temazepam, Alprazolam and Donormyl-doxylamine. One was an antihistamine and the other five were either sleeping aids (similar to Ambien) or anti-anxiety drugs (similar to Valium). All of these medications depress the central nervous system–which can lead to death if taken in the wrong quantities or combinations, explains Edward Langston, M.D., a pharmacist and chair of the American Medical Association’s board of trustees. “You just fall asleep and stop breathing if you take too much for you.”

Heath Ledger….. Wow….. What does one say????? Well for starters, he was an EXCELLENT actor….. And it is extremely hard to know I will NEVER see him in another film…….. He had an outstanding quality that seperated him from the rest of the comedic actors……. He LIVED his parts……. Wether it be JP in GRANDMA’S BOY or the boy in BROKEBACK MOUNTIAN, or the guy in BLADES of GLORY with Will Farrell……. He took that character and incorporated it into his personality and his being…… He didn’t only play the part, he BECAME the part…… I stumbled accross this article looking for celeb news to put onto my myspace, and this is what I found……. I will miss Heath Ledger as I am sure the rest of society will do so too……. However, not only will I hold him dear to my heart, but I will also keep HIM in mind the next time, I have to defend myself from a burn or when I burn someone else………. As for Heath dying of a drug overdose, they do not know that yet. And it very well may not have been an overdose. It could very well have been a negative drug interaction.

Another young, troubled, talented actor succumbs to substance abuse. All the big stars are subjected to an almost total lack of privacy, at any time, the paparazzi could be there, pointing a camera at them.
It seems that some of the stars cannot handle the spotlight, they feel unworthy of it and resort to drinking, drugging and NO ONE makes good decisions with a system full of chemicals.
Sad to see him go, and also really sad to see others deteriorate right before our eyes. Why are people like Ms. Spears the butt of thousands of jokes? It’s not funny, it’s tragic!
