The Dallas Cowboys loss to the New York Giants yesterday has alot of Dallas fans angry at quarterback Tony Romo. Instead of regaining their focus during the bye week, the Cowboys were beset by distractions. How was Tony Romo supposed to benefit from his off-week trip to Mexico with singer/actress/whatever-it-is-she-is Jessica Simpson? And, more important, how were the Cowboys supposed to benefit from their most important player jetting off to a resort the week before a playoff game? This is the Yoko Effect: The distraction caused by the budding romance between Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo and actress Jessica Simpson that coincided with the team’s late-season slide. Romo-Simpson is a media-driven controversy that might have effected the Cowboys-Giants game, especially AFTER-THE-FACT that they lost. Terrell Owens (wide-receiver) even cried saying “Leave Tony Romo Alone, he’d mah quarterback”. (are we going to see another youtube video: LEAVE ROMO ALONE!) And this from the FOX announcers: “If only Tony had called me and said, ‘Terry, Jessica and I are going to go to Mexico,’ ” Fox broadcaster and four-time Super Bowl winner Terry Bradshaw told the FortWorth Star-Telegram. “I would’ve told him: ‘You crazy? Don’t do that! The paparazzi is going to find you, man. You’re a star. She’s a star. It’s just going to happen.’ You know what? If anything, Romo’s vacation with Jessica was nothing more than another blessing for a league that apparently can’t do anything wrong. The gossip and the attention of the paparazzi have only served to hype the playoffs. Romo-Simpson will simply make more casual fans pay attention to the playoffs before the Super Bowl. But now, I bet in the Dallas newspapers and the public, there is going to be alot of hate towards the “Always gotta be in the spotlight, Jessica Simpson”. Here’s some old news about Jessica Simpson as quoted by Terrell Owens: Asked Wednesday about the Simpson scenario, Owens playfully chimed in: “Right now, Jessica Simpson is not a fan favorite _ in this locker room or in Texas Stadium. Late Wednesday, Owens further clarified the tone of his statements. “Man, I was joking,” he said. “Everyone was laughing, right?” I bet Jessica and Tony break up now since he isn’t going to the Superbowl. She needs to find the next man she can ride some publicity from.

An OK! magazine article claiming Tony Romo dumped Jessica Simpson after his team was eliminated from the NFL playoffs is “utterly false” and reflects a “smear campaign,” her lawyers said.
As reported by TMZ.com, Simpson’s lawyers have sent a letter to OK!’s Editor-in-Chief, Sarah Ivens, claiming the article is “utterly false” and “is based on nothing more than rumor, gossip and innuendo.”
The attorneys also said the article reflects a “smear campaign” and has subjected Simpson to “public contempt, ridicule, aversion or disgrace,” and want OK! to “immediately publish a prominent and unambiguous” retraction.
