Nicole Richie pled guilty to driving while under the influence of drugs, and now she will follow in Paris Hilton’s footsteps and head to the slammer. The socialite was sentenced to four days in jail, fined US$2,048, placed on a three-year probation and forced to enroll in a court-supervised rehabilitation program. “The court views this plea agreement as a contract,” Superior Court Commissioner Steven Lubell told Richie, Reuters reported. “If you violate the terms of this agreement, you can and you will go to county jail for more time than the court is giving you today. Being under the influence of alcohol or drugs while driving is extremely dangerous.” Jail is the cool thing to do! Lindsay Lohan is next!

Nicole Richie’s papa Lionel is going public with his support of his wayward daughter. Maybe he’s getting all squishy at the prospect of becoming a Grampa, or maybe he really doesn’t see that Nic has made a big ol’ mess of things.

“My daughter has made some mistakes in her life and has accepted responsibility for her actions,” Lionel tells Usmagazine.com. “She has not blamed others for her problems and is growing up very quickly, albeit in the heat of the media spotlight. “
And I’m sure Lionel is relieved that Nicole is being all responsible and not blaming others. Because you know those screwed up kids of celebrities always point the heavily medicated finger at their famous parents.
