Who will be the new host of the hit tv game show: THE PRICE IS RIGHT ?
The field of candidates to succeed Bob Barker as host of CBS’ venerable game show “The Price Is Right” might be narrowing.Sources indicated that Mark Steines, George Hamilton and Mario Lopez have emerged as top contenders, with Steines, co-host of “Entertainment Tonight,” getting the strongest buzz at the moment. Tapes of “Price” auditions have been sent out and are being shown to test audiences around the country, sources said. The list also includes Todd Newton, John O’Hurley and former “Beauty and the Geek” host Mike Richards.Representatives for CBS declined comment, as did FremantleMedia North America, which produces the long-running show. Barker said in October that he will retire in May after 35 years as host of the show. It now appears that he will tape his last show in June. The network is planning to give him a sendoff that includes a primetime special celebrating the TV veteran’s career to air May 17, 2007.
I was going to throw in my vote for George Hamilton, but after seeing those annoying tortilla chip commercials, he’s off the list. How about you get Michael Richards? He can belt out racist remarks to the participating contestants. Wait….how about a Drew Carey? He’s funny. Yeah Drew Carey. Is Ray Romano broke yet?
President George Bush wanted to host the hit tv show, but he failed all the intelligence requirements.

Comment by Gail on 13 April 2007:
Hope it’s not John O’Hurley…..can’t stand him and I’ll never watch the show again if he gets it. Use to love Family Fued but haven’t watched it since he took over hosting. After dancing w/the stars first season, he showed what a cry baby he is by insisting a rematch!
Comment by Vicch on 16 April 2007:
I think they should RETIRE the show when he RETIRES!
Comment by Joyce on 16 April 2007:
john O’Hurley is a major disappointment on Ramily Feud. He is SO bad I would not watch Price is Right if he is the host and I’ve watched it since the first show

Went too see Bob twice ,once he came up the isle and shook our hands When he shook my hand every hair in my body stood up BOB IS IRREPLACIBLE…..GoodLuck to whoever gets the job… Love you Bob
Comment by Ryan on 27 April 2007:
two words Chuck Woolery…why not?
Comment by Virginia Barnett on 28 April 2007:
Number one Chuch Woolery Second choose Howie Mandel
Mario is to young for that show.
George Hamilton don’t like his commericals no good
Forget John O’Hurley Not a good host on the Family Feud
Need a middle aged person because that show is a older show.
Comment by Eva Pritchard on 4 May 2007:
I will miss Bob Barker, He was the best TV host and no one can replace him. Some one will just be another host. My vote would be Jeff Foxwothy (if he decides to end “Smarter than a 5th grader”). His humor is great., second,my vote is for Howie Mandel. I can’t imagine either of those that are under consideration being a good host.
Comment by angeemarie on 10 May 2007:
I heard that Rosie O’Donnell throwing her name in the hat? No way, Comedy didn’t want her, daytime talk shows didn’t want her(twice), and I and sure the gaming audiences don’t want her.
Comment by Alison Sherman on 15 May 2007:
I that that it should be Todd Newton…..He has been preparing for the Price is Right doing the LIVE version in Vegas..
Comment by Lou Warga on 19 May 2007:
I wish Bob all the happiness that he as given us. God Bless You.. You have no idea how much you will be missed.
God Bless Us and help us get through this sad time.

Kenny Wallce of Nascar!
Comment by Stila on 26 May 2007:
Bob Barker makes my skin crawl! Here’s a man who has been sued by numerous women for sexual harassment and a few people still worship him like a hero. There’s a reason he fired all those women and then they were paid off. I can’t wait til he retires so my family can start watching the show again. We don’t patronize creeps.
Comment by noproblem5 on 28 May 2007:
George Hamilton would be great. Also the host of the GSN show “Chain Reaction” The young mans first name is Dylan.
Howie Mandel?? Not hardly! He would have to wear rubber gloves, he has a germ phobia. Mario Lopez is so cute, all ages would love him.
Comment by BrandY A on 28 May 2007:
Yeah…. Great Person!! CHUCK WOOLERY will be great!!
He definitely fills the void left by Bob.
He has done so many game shows that he will be a natural for the show and not ROSIE,MARIO or GEORGE. They stink from the get go!!
Where are You Chuck Woolery?? We need you for the TPIR!!
Comment by Junieb on 29 May 2007:
There will never be another like Bob, I don’t think the show will survive. Bob is one of a kind, and we love him. Who ever they replace him with the show just won’t be the same, The Price Is Right is Bob Barker. No he’s not perfect, but who is, but he is the perfect show host for the Price is Right, and will be sadly missed.
Comment by proberta on 29 May 2007:
I am so glad to hear Stila tell Bob Barker like he is! The man’s a PIG! Where there’s smoke there’s fire, and him firing all those women and them suing him means there’s something seriously wrong on that show. I say good riddance and let’s get someone honorable and of integrity on The Price Is Right, which is a great show, but has been tarnished by Bob Barker’s sleazy and questionable behavior. Besides, it’s creepy that the host can be old as dirt, but the models all have to be 20something Playboy-ettes. Price Is Right was so much better with the original cast, with women we loved and admired. This show is living in the 50s. Move on, get PC.
Comment by jeri on 1 June 2007:
i think howie from deal or no deal would be the best person for the job.
Comment by sandy on 1 June 2007:
HOW ABOUT RICHARD CARNE-HE WAS GREAT ON FAMILY FEUD AND NOW WITH O’HURLEY I DON’T EVEN LIKE THE SHOW ANYMORE.
Comment by Chrissy on 6 June 2007:
Richard Carne would be my first choice but hey IF Chuck Woolery were interested, I know I would be at the show VERY OFTEN :)
Comment by Ryan on 7 June 2007:
Adam Sandler — “The price is wrong”, but he would be so right.
Comment by Joe on 7 June 2007:
Well, remember when CBS did those series of Classic TV Game Shows, i cant remember what it was called, when they took celebrities and put them on the game shows CBS aired…What about Ricki Lake? She did a pretty good job that night when they did “The Price is Right”. Ricki Lake wouldnt be bad. I also think John O’Hurley has that spontanity but i havent seen Family Fued since he took over so im taking the side of everyone else…hmm idk.
Comment by Kerry on 9 June 2007:
My choice would be either Chuck Woolery or Mark Kriskie, the weatherman from KTLA morning news in LA–he has a great personality and pretty funny too! I really hope it is not that cry baby John O’Hurley–what a cry baby he is!

Comment by Lois on 12 June 2007:
Mario Lopez is young and is a very good communitcator…
I am 69 and I would never watch the show again if Rosie O or George H got the job….
Dick Clark would be excellent…. OR Pat Boone….
Comment by Vonna on 15 June 2007:
I have been watching “Price is Right” for at least 30 years. As we know, there will be NO ONE that can replace Bob Barker. If they put Rosie O in there the show would not only loose ratings, but the Bob Barker entire fan base may boycott the show entirely. Someone with some pep would be good. How about Frank Nicotero, who hosted the show “Street Smarts?” He shows alot of enthusiasm! George H. maybe. Who ever it is good luck to them. Bob Barker thank you for the 50 years of wonderful T.V.!!!!! Hope you enjoy your retirement, you deserve it!!
Comment by Marlene on 18 June 2007:
Please don’t put Rosie O on there. The show will go to pot
Comment by Georgiafrog on 18 June 2007:
Why not Brad Garrett (Robert from “Everybody Loves Raymod” He would be great! Or, if a woman is wanted, why not Ellen Degeneres, not Rosie. My wife thinks Ryan Seacrest would be great! or Brian Dunkelman from the first season of Idol.
Comment by Jeanne' on 18 June 2007:

Jeanne’
I want to thank Bob for all the wonderful years. I also think Chuck Woolery would be an excellent choice, but if Rosie O, or Ellen D. get it I will never watch the show again and I have watched for many many years.
Comment by Johnny on 18 June 2007:
Rosie O Donnell? Now THAT’S funny! She is so repulsive. Why not have Charlie Sheen as the host and have Jane Fonda and Carrie Fisher is the models? Hell, just put Sean Penn as the announcer. Sorry, I know Rosie’s not taken seriously by many people…sorry to go off on a rant.
Comment by Dar says: on 18 June 2007:
PLEASE tell me that they are not going to put Rosie O’Donnell on the Price is Right Show. One thing for sure, I will NEVER watch my favorite show again if she is the ost! I can’t stand her. Ditto for my son! Loved you Bob!

john o’hurley would be the best host absolutely not rosie!!!!!!!

I think Richard Karne would be the best host he was very good on family fued. i do not that John O’hurly he is stupid he thinks he is funny (NOT).and absolutely not Rosie Odonnell i would not watch it again I don’t know why anyone would think she would be a good host.Yes Chuck Woolery would be good but my vote goes to Richard
Comment by Martha B. on 20 June 2007:
Bob Barker is the greatest show host ever. It will be impossible to replace him. I remember his 1st show and cried when he retired last week. My choice for a replacement host would be STEPHEN COLLINS who played REVEREND CAMDEN on 7TH HEAVEN. He seems perfect to me. Have a blessed retirement BOB and I hope the RIGHT person gets picked.
Comment by Helen vanPatterson Patton on 20 June 2007:
ANYONE but Rosie.
Comment by Estella on 20 June 2007:
DEFINITELY NOT ROSIE O’DONNELL! I will not watch if she is the host. I think John O’Hurley would be good.
Comment by dan on 20 June 2007:
charlie sheen for price is right would be awesome….please god let this happen
Comment by heidi on 21 June 2007:
I am a little surprised no mentioned or suggested Tim Allen from Home Improvement. Even though no one could possibly replace our beloved Bob Barker (he put his heart in this show) Tim Allen is as close as their going to get. he’s an awesome character! Rosie is an o.k gal, a little radical sometime but I don’t think a female would be a good replacement.
Comment by heidi on 21 June 2007:
Oh and to above writer(17) “BrandYA” , Yes, I agree Chuck Woolery would be a great show host as well! I really cannot think of anyone else. either Tim Allen or Chuck Woolery. number one! Tim Allen and very very close second, Chuck Woolery! Anyone else agree?!
Comment by Jocelyne on 21 June 2007:
Please, please, please, not Rosie, if she gets it I swear to you that my friends and I will discontinue watching the show that we have loved for many many years. Comedy didn’t want her, daytime talk shows didnt’ want her and I hope that the price is right doesn’t want her. P.s she didn’t do so good in the movies I saw either.
Comment by Anonymous on 22 June 2007:
keep rosie out of there that lezzy and ugly peice of shit if she is on there i will never whatch that show again
Comment by Diana on 23 June 2007:
I heard a rumor that Ryan Seacrest is in the running.
Comment by J on 25 June 2007:
I think Ricki Lake should host. After watching Game Show Marathon, I would place her as my first choice. She did a superb job hosting, and I hoped for her to replace bob. But eh well… John O’Hurley is my number 2 choice. He can pass as a good TPIR host.
Comment by Dot on 27 June 2007:
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, Not Rosie, She is vulgar & a Hag. I think John O’Hurley, Chuck Woolery, George Hamilton. Kenny Wallace will not give up his racing.
If Rosie is put on the show my mother and I will not watch the show.
Comment by Steve W on 4 July 2007:
How about Mike Rowe form Dirty Jobs. The perfect person for hosting the Price Is right
Comment by Roscoe P. on 11 July 2007:
Why would you put a lame Bush joke into PIR discussion?
Reason for show success is its relief from daily news crap. And Bush has an MBA…..
Smarter than any Kennedy, Johnson, Carter, et al….
Comment by Millie July 11, 2007 on 12 July 2007:
Please Pleasedon’t ever think that Rosie Mc
Please Please don’t give the job on The Price is right to
Rosie Mcdonell, she is a rude, ugly, smart ass, and would
ruin the show and you would lose the wonderful audience
that Bob Barker has created.
Comment by Morgan on 14 July 2007:
John O’Hurley would be absolutely the best host. He has brought the viewership of family Feud up 45 percent, and that’s really something for that old chestnut.vee
Comment by Celebrity Gossip on 15 July 2007:
Steve Sanders aka Ian Ziering should be on Dancing with the Stars not hosting the Price is Right! Ugh, well the NYDN is reporting that Ian was all happy the other day, because he just got a call-back for Bob Barker’s job on the game show.
The source said he really, really wants it. Well, we can’t always get what we want.
Ian has a little competition. Mark Steines of Entertainment Tonight and Todd Newton of Whammy! are said to be the frontrunners. George Hamilton, Mario Lopez and John O’Hurley are also said to be in the running.
Whammy! is one of the greatest shows of all-time, therefore I think Todd should land that gig. He should also bring those hot-ass whammies.
Comment by Morgan on 16 July 2007:
P.S. There have been many disparaging remarks unfavorably comparing John O’Hurley to his predecessor. Richard K. However, Richard’s contract was not renewed. Apparently under his stewardship Family Feud lost more than 5 percent of its viewers. John O. not only regained the 5 percent but an additional 40 percent. He may not get TPIR but only because he is to valuable to FF.
Comment by Morgan on 17 July 2007:
P.P.S. It is no coincidence that Freemantle has leaned towards so many Dancing with the Stars alumni - George Hamilton, Mario Lopez, John O’Hurley and now Ian Ziering. Freemantle (and the agents of the stars) believe that perhaps lightening can strike twice. After all, John O’Hurley brought back to life a slipping Family Feud. Perhaps they feel they can also be successful with other DWTS celebs.
Comment by Mark Clouser on 18 July 2007:
I think it out to be Todd Newton its ovisous that he has price is right expericence doing it at ballys las vegas! He also has previous game show experence doing wammy on GSN.
Comment by Ron on 18 July 2007:
Most of the names mentioned would do.
But all of the names are of people that I do not believe would stay. As they would want to do something else in the acting world.
If I could, I would have anyone interested in doing the PRIR to submit a vido recording of themselves and let the production staff hold interviews of the best.
An unknow host that the public would like could be the best answer to this porblem.
Comment by Tom Cockerill on 18 July 2007:
How about Drew Carey? He is hilarious and a lot of people like him. I for one miss seeing him on TV. The worst thing that could happen to The Price is Right would be to try and get some bad Bob Barker rip off. Bob was awesome and no one can replace him. Trying to would ruin the show. Drew Carey would give the show new life and could possibly keep it going for another 35 years.
Comment by Joella on 18 July 2007:
Why not have Richard Karn host the show? He was great as the host of Family Feud. Bob you will be missed. My mom and I always agree on watching your show.
Comment by juanita shanur on 19 July 2007:
morgan o’hurley is the biggest cry baby of all times, if he went as host of the price is right, i would not ever watch it again, he is bad , bad. juanita
Comment by Celebrity Gossip on 19 July 2007:
LOOKS LIKE DREW CAREY IS GETTING THE JOB!
Comment by Morgan on 20 July 2007:
Juanita, Hey, don’t worry — maybe Drew Carey will actually get it after all. If so, good! Although I prefer John O., Drew would do a fabulous job!! — John a cry baby, why do you say that?? I can only guess it’s because of DWTS and the dance-off. But you know what, John didn’t ask for the dance-off. It was at a meeting in L.A. between the media and ABC executives that the question of a dance-off came up. Kelly Monaco who was at the meeting (John was not there) said “You want a dance-off, I’ll give you a dance-off. Bring it on.” From there the idea was put into motion culminating in a dance-off. If you are talking about grumbling on John’s part during certain non-dancing portions of the dance-off, remember this was carefully edited to show him at his worse. They wanted to show him as a disgruntle loser, vindicate Kelly winning, and discredit that portion of the media who suggested the dance-off. They were also sure that Monaco would win again. Well, surprise, surprise — John won. He’s always been a winner in my book, but I wish he would leave Family Feud which really doesn’t showcase his talent
Comment by bgirl on 22 July 2007:
what about wayne brady? everyone else mentioned seems to be busy, even rosie [busy getting the boot, that is]
Comment by John on 24 July 2007:
OK guys, to end this once and for all…the new host of the price is right is…Drew Carey.
Comment by Celebrity Gossip on 24 July 2007:
They were concerned about Bob Barker’s sexcapades with the models?! Wait til the Playboy mansion hound dog gets in there. The lawsuits will be a regular occurrence, mark my words.
Comment by gary davis on 24 July 2007:
It looks like Drew Carey got he job. I never have watched him on tv and I won’t start now. The Price Is Right is doomed with him as the new host. I’ll never watch the show again.
Comment by chicagogus on 27 July 2007:
It looks as if Carey was nominated without a tryout (public). I vote for Al Roker who subbed a week on the Millionaire show and did a wonderful job. My second vote would be John O’Hurley - he is wonderful on Family Feud in our opinion.
If we could work up a list of sponsors to tell we refuse to watch .. it might help. CBS seems to be reluctant to cooperate.
Comment by js on 30 July 2007:
wish i had not said anything. had rather see john than drew. oh well!!
Comment by Celebrity Gossip on 30 July 2007:
Ian Ziering’s plans were thwarted after learning he didn’t land Bob Barker’s old job on The Price is Right; instead, the job went to Drew Carey. “I guess I was a little disappointed,” the former 90210 star told People magazine. “I was really kind of hoping that would happen… For the last month, I’ve been so titillated, my family has been excited at the mere notion of me hosting The Price is Right.” However, the actor is taking the news gracefully. “Unfortunately, it didn’t go my way,” Ziering said. “But they got a great host in Drew Carey. I’ve always been a big fan of his. I think he’s going to do great.”
Comment by Dan on 16 August 2007:
I attended the first taping of the The Price is Right with Drew Carey as host yesterday! He did great for his first show! Sure a bump here or there, but heh, his first show. When asked if he was nervous he responded, “Not at all, very excited! I’m on top of the world!” He did a bunch of Q&A with the audience, signed a bunch of shirts. They had to turn away people! Many people had done self-designed shirts! -Dan
Comment by Sheela on 23 August 2007:
Drew Carey // thats the bottom of the barrel …how about Jeff Axeworthy from the 5th grader …thats a great choice!!
Comment by Rich on 13 September 2007:
Dan…how did the audience greet Drew ? Did they give him a standing ovation? Did they use the skinny mic that Bob used for so many years? Did Drew keep his promise to Bob and end the show with Mr. Barkers trademark reminder of pet control? How did the contestants dig the new set? When Drew was introduced, did he do the trademark strut that Bob used to do when the double doors opened up welcoming him to the crowd? Was there any tension or concern. We’re curious boss…give us some details bro. Can’t wait for Oct 15
Comment by Dan on 11 October 2007:
Hey Rich, he got a 5 minute standing ovation! Seriously, 5 minutes. Different skinny mike, it’s wireless now. I couldn’t hear his sign-off as the audience was hooting and hollering! I understand he is keeping it (check out USAToday.com entertainment section). The set isn’t that different; doesn’t look 70s-ish anymore, again check the USAToday.com website for pics. Nope, he just walked straight out. As you may know, Bob did that ‘jump’ onto the stage as a demonstration of his desire and enthusiasm for the show. Hope you read this in time as I don’t usually check this website. -Dan
Comment by chicagogus on 23 October 2007:
Drew Carey still seems a bit nervous and may not care to overcome what may be a boredom with the Price is Right. I still say there should have been an open tryout like they had for their announcer(s). Even tho he is with a different network (NBC), I think Al Roker should be included in tryouts. He WOULD be better than Drew, I assure you!
Comment by Ann Lennon on 1 November 2007:
I love Drew Carey, but he is like a “fish out of water” on the Price is Right. Not a good selection. Need someone more “outgoing” and personable. You know when someone “fits” and Drew is uncomfortable and so are those who watch it. Ann
Comment by Rick Richardson on 13 November 2007:
Whoa ! I’m not gonna bash the panel that elected Drew to take over the price is Right but he is, for me, the worst selection ever made for this position. His dry wit is only suitable to “Who’s line is it anyway” which I think he is perfect for. He seemingly has a very hard time explaining the vital rules to each game and this only says he has not done his homework on learning them himself.
“Please bring back “Bill Cullen” …LOL
In all earnesty, he’s just not right as the host for this show.
Rick
Comment by Dan on 16 November 2007:
I disagree. I find him very personable and enthusiastic! He genuinely cares if the contestant wins. I think the ‘fit’ or catching up to the games is just because he’s new. He’ll get a rhythm soon enough a be great! -Dan
Comment by Erik on 10 December 2007:
After many years of watching Bob Barker handle the Price is Right I knew it was going to be tough to replace him. Though I never thought a decision that would ruin the show forvever would have been made. Drew Carey and his melencholy personality is devistating to me and all the fans of what used to be the best televised game show ever.
