You idiots don’t get it, media has such control of your dumb lives and FINALLY someone is coming along (Howard) and challenging both viewers and mass media. Someone on another blog mentioned this idea as “ruining the integrity of the show.” Since when did this show EVER have integrity? Ya know, I never agreed with the voting system for AI. It left too many cracks in the system. For example, if there was a really great singer, people would assume that this singer would get a ton of votes, and so they would vote for someone else they’d like to see hang around a little longer. Problem is, enough people would think that way, and the great singer would get eliminated for having the fewest votes (Chris Daughtry from last year comes to mind). I always felt that America should vote for the person they wanted to see voted off, and not for the ones they’d like to see stay around for another week. If the vote went that way, we wouldn’t have this situation with Sanjaya. Maybe the shows producers should reconsider the voting system. It would solve a lot of problems.

I wonder if the powers that be on the show know what a mockery is being made of the legitimate talent that’s on the show. The show is real - it is not a joke. The only joke is Howard Stern who should be voted off the air permanently and those who listen to his stupidity should be banned from voting at all. I lost interest in Howard when his E-Channel show turned into a FCC war of words. He use to be so edgy and creative with all his antics. This is by far the worst season of AI. Howard Stern gets paid to be a jackass. So does Simon (although he IS the only valid judge on that show). Sanjaya can step down whenever he chooses. He hasn’t done so; therefore, one can assume that he’s chosen to ignore the negative attention. The kid CAN sing, but is not on the same level as the other remaining contestants (with the exception of a certain female). But…let’s not forget that the JUDGES put Sanjaya in the finals. Save for several contestants, they did an amazingly sloppy job of picking the best of the bunch this year. I would vote for Sanjaya ONLY in hopes that the producers would change the voting system. Ideally, the judges should have the task of ousting one of the contestants who garners the least votes OR votes should be cast for the person viewers want voted OFF the show. How can such obvious solutions to the voting debacle be ignored? The producers poke fun at wannabe singers each season, so they obviously DON’T care about integrity or cruelty. It’s just entertainment. If you’re a great singer and get voted off before Sanjaya, life shouldn’t be over.

American Idol makes fun of people for the first like ten episodes. And their screening process is intense. I know someone who tried out and they weren’t let through because they sounded too polished… what does that mean, it means they sounded too professional. How can you have a competition that is supposed to look for the best talent turn you down for sounding too good. My friend also told me that they let people without talent in for no apparent reason. ( basically to make good tv at people’s expense ) So I think they deserve to be pranked. I’m not voting for the worst because i enjoy some former idols music (mainly Fantasia who I believe is the greatest idol and the most talented) although i didn’t vote for her either. NE way just remember for those of you who are concerned about Sanjaya’s feelings this is the music industry better now than later…. And as for those who get voted off..Only one of them would win in the end and really winning isn’t always the best…remember Clay….

I doubt if anyone remembers the very first winner of AI; or, for that matter, what happens to them afterwards. I always used to hate idol. i only used to watch the first couple episodes because they were funny. Now that sanjaya is still there, i enjoy watching it because he amuses me. this is the first season ive really tried to pay attention. in my opinion sanjaya is the only good thing about this show. And the debate continues!!!! Those of you who are upset about all these people voting for Sanjaya need to realize one thing (I’ll get to it in a minute). You keep trying to appeal to their sense of compassion when you point out that they are humiliating him. They are not voting for him in an attempt to help him, so compassion won’t work. You point out that if they don’t like the show, they should just not watch it instead of ruining it for those that do like it. They are not voting for Sanjaya in an attempt to ruin the show, so pointing this one will also not deter them from voting. This has nothing to do with Sanjaya’s talent, or lack there of, so pointing out that he is talentless will also not change things. This also has nothing to do with trying to send a message to the shows producers, so voters making that claim can cut the crap, we’re not buying that. This is not a retaliation for showing bad singers in the first 10 shows. They are just using that as an excuse to justify why they are voting for Sanjaya. There is only one reason why all these people are voting for Sanjaya. (This is where I let the cat out of the bag, so gather round and listen closely) The reason all these people are voting for Sanjaya is because they want to feel like they are a part of something that is felt on a national level. They are uniting in one voice and saying “We will do something that everyone will know about, and there’s nothing you can do to stop us”. They want to feel like they are a part of something huge. Now, it’s unfortunate that these people can’t unite like this for a more constructive cause, like say…..voting for President. Some of these people admit to voting hundreds of times for Sanjaya, but I wonder how many of them have never voted during the Presidential election?(those who are of age to do so). These people just want to be heard. And unfortunately, there’s nothing anyone can do or say to stop them. The more you people complain, the more they feel motivated, and grow in numbers. The more success they have, the more others will hear about them and want to join their “Team”. They want to see just how far they can carry Sanjaya. And for the record, it didn’t have to be Sanjaya. He’s just the unfortunate guy they picked (because he sucked). It could have been anyone. These people want to feel like they’re a part of something BIG!!! VFTW and Howard Stern just gave them a cause. “Let’s pick the worst and see how far we can carry them, because we know noone else will be voting for them, so however far Sanjaya makes it, we will know it was us that accomplished it”. THAT’S why they are doing this. We can only hope that next season, there will be a change in the voting system to prevent something like this from happening again.

So if you feel the need to call these people names, or beg them to stop, go ahead. But know this….the more you beg or complain or name-call, the more you motivate them to continue voting, because you will be providing the proof they need that their “voice” is being heard and felt.

#162, people don’t unite for global warming or the against war because 1) the dark ages started because of religious hysteria over unexplained rising temperatures and shifting seasons (and the earth didn’t burn up then) and a similar modern secular hysteria would throw us into a new “dark age” and 2) the war is just and necessary.

But voting for Sanjaya is a way of “uniting” in a silly cause that ultimately won’t mean anything. It’s safe. And fun!

American Idol doesn’t have a case against Howard Stern, because these have to be monetary losses, and there’s no evidence of that (in fact, the opposite appears to be true). The only one that might have a suit is Sanjaya for defamation, but, well, the truth is a complete defense to defamation.

Why do people give the credit for Sanjaya’s longevity to teen girls? Bah! It is quite obvious (by the hundreds of pissed off rants I’ve read online) that there is no way he would have made it this far without the backing of votefortheworst.com (12,600 registered users who vote 100’s of times a week each) and the exposure they got on the Howard Stern show (4,000,000 listeners) and subsequently, the media. With these numbers we could easily generate half of the 30 million votes AI claims to get each week – and that doesn’t even factor in the teen girls ;-) Every week he stays on becomes a new victory for our cause and only makes us more determined to win! Not to mention all the new VOTING members our movement gets each week by the media exposure alone.

Way to go Gene! I’m not a computer guru, so that’s beyond me, but I know it can be done. I’m a dial, hangup, redial guy, but i get between 200 and 300 votes registered per week–about 20 saeconds a call, the first half hour is tedious (usually only about 20-30 votes), but the next hour and 15 minutes are much better better. The last fifteen minutes are difficult because people are piling in at the last minutes.

We need to build up enough momentum over the next three weeks to help Sanjaya into the top three–that’s gonna be a bitch.

When are you people gonna realize that Stern is not doing this? We the people are.

Keep the faith. Vote for Sanjaya. and vote multiple times.

Sanjaya seems like a sweet kid, but this competition is too big for him. In the begining it was kind of neat that he went on to the next round, but last week when Chris went home is when it really started to get rediculous.I’m sorry, but I think he needs to be sent home, and I do feel that if this competition keeps going at the rate it is that when the week comes with the donations for calls that there won’t be as many. All those poor kids. Really think about it, if a person is making a bunch of calls just for Sanjaya and there are several people doing that it still won’t be enough that would be needed, so please think of what you’re doing. I know that there are several people that have written on this blog that they won’t watch the show anymore and I’m sorry to say that I won’t either.

I dont hate Howard Stern. I dont watch or listen to him but i do respect what he has accomplished.

Sites like this are fun and they do get more buzz for the show, but I dont think I would feel too good about myself if I knew I was the reason some of these kids got kicked off the show before they were deserving of it, just so I could vote for someone with no talent.

No matter what happens with the votes the outcome will be the same.
They will all go on tour and get records and Simon will be a bit richer.

If you guys were really trying to keep the “worst” idol contestant from getting kicked off then you wouldnt have picked Sanjaya.

First of all, Sanjaya is very talented, but not as much so as the rest of the contestants (except maybe Phil, but that’s debatable.) He’s not ridiculously talented like Blake, or acomplished like Melinda (both of whom are professional singers anyway), but he does have loads of charisma and a restrained outrageousness that is appealing to the younger set.

It was only a matter of time before the TEEN BEAT demographic made an appearance in vote tallies on AI. Remember, most you AI idiots were in that demographic at one time.

Will Sanjaya win? Probably not; but if “real” talent wins out anyway (and based on seasons 2,3, & 5, I wouldn’t make such a sweeping statement), what does it matter who goes home when.

I vote for my 3 neices who adore Sanjaya (I will admit that bothers me, but I’m the uncle, not the dad) who aren’t allowed to vote (again, my brother’s decision).
I vote because I like reading the assine and venomous comments on this blog. But most of all, I vote for the kid who couldn’t understand how, in a family of professional singers and professional sports figures, he could be the only one who was awkward, uncoordinated, and tone-deaf; but who dreamed anyway of a life that could never be his.

So get used to it: Sanjaya will be around for a while yet.

I think that Stern’s strategy to influence the results of the Idol competition will undoubtedly fail. More of Stern’s views/listeners are watching Idol more than his show. Besides, it costs nothing to watch Idol and $10 a month to listen to that long haired loser.

Whatever the outcome, Simon will make twice as much money because of this media stunt and Howard will end up losing more of his already bored audience.

The only thing worse than what Howard (or his pleebs)is doing is a 3rd year law student trying to explain the law (sorry Law, no offense)
First of all noone cares about the law, if someone wants to try and sue they can, and unfortunatly most law suits wind up with someone making a buck and its usually the lawyers which is why i dont like them.

once you start to take away rights of one, others are sure to follow.

I think this is great. It’s proving that american idol is a popularity contest. Last year chris lost the competition when he should’ve at least made it to the final 2. Also how many times has it happened that the winner of american idol produces less albums than the runner up or other singers from the competition ex. Clay and ruben. Well, I thought he’d make the top five, but twasn’t to be. For one brief, shining moment, American Idol was interesting, exciting, and on the verge of regaining it’s lost integrity (assuniming it had any at all). But no more.

There’s always next season, when there might be another contestant worth getting excited about, tho he/she will have a pretty big scarf to fill. But Sanjaya leaves us having gotten the furtherst of any VFTW contestant. He’s done American Idol, his family (especially his ultra-hot sister), and everybody who voted even once for Sanjaya proud.

I’ve been an AI watcher since season one (I was 14). The show has always had it’s scandals: I cried when Clay lost, I didn’t give a fig about Frenchie, and Antonella was a joke to begin with (wasn’t she the one who stayed up all night partying with boys during Hollywood week when they were preparing for group day?)

Anyway, I always thought that Jordan should win this season, so the order in which the others got voted off never really mattered to me. So tell me why, oh why, do I have this hollow feeling now that Sanjaya is gone. Granted, he wasn’t very talented (compared to the others), but he was fun to watch.

So, I guess what I’m confused about is this: now that I’m in college and have a life of my own, am I simply outgrowing AI or is the world going to be a much sadder place with Sanjaya out of the competition?

I so wanted to see a Jordan/Sanjaya finale.
