Jake Gyllenhaal is rumoured to be in the running to play Captain Marvel in the upcoming movie Shazam! Apparently New Line Cinema wants to confirm Gyllenhaal’s commitment to the big-screen remake of the DC comic before he decides to fill another set of spandex. Supposedly Spider-Man director Sam Raimi has the Brokeback Mountain star in mind to replace Tobey Maguire when he hangs up his spiderwebs. “They’re ready to spend up to $200 million to get it started,” a source told the New York Daily News of New Line’s plan. Tommy Boy director Peter Segal is set to direct.
