Ban the N Word - Paul Mooney

I will be so happy when everyone, especially people of African descent, like me, stop using this word. Imagine if in 60 years little kids have no idea what the n word means. Whenever I hear that word it sticks in my head. Its like being slapped in the face. I don’t understand why African Americans would want to say it and hear it is music. This was a word created to insult us, why do you think it would be cool to say it all the time? You are insulting yourself and your ancestors!

Why dont we have a white history month? Why dont we talk about some of the women the spritual martin luther went with. the white people in this country dont owe the black folks anything.But we sure have dished it out thru government handouts.

You know it’s funny how famous people can try to ban a word that was invented in the street/jail before niggers (notice the ‘ers’ on the end of ‘nigg’) were even allowed on stage. And if you think about it we flipped the word to be used only by us and to be used in an endearing way. It’s the ultimate Negro ingenuity. So now we’re going to allow the idiot who knows he’s not supposed to say the damn word in the first place go on stage and take it away from us? I don’t think so Mr. Mooney. You got famous by using the word and now you’re gonna divorce it? You are the funniest Black man dead or alive and I believe that you can change your material. Just remember that no matter what you do we won’t always follow.

To use toward our fellow man,
If it’s black on black the word Nigga is alright,
But when used by a person of another race
We’re angry ready to fight

To say I can use Nigga toward my brother
But others can’t use toward me,
Is the most ignorant statement ever made
Out of pure stupidity,

How can we get mad at others
For using this word that we accept,
We can’t expect other races to respect us
If we can’t respect ourselves,

How dare we let this degrading
Word fly out of our mouths,
What happened to the days
Of I’m black and I’m proud,

Nigger, Nigga what a horrible disgrace,
For all of you who think Nigga is different
Both words come from the same place,

A word the devil created
That represents racism and pain,
We’re carrying on his tradition
By giving his word nigger a brand new name,

Whether the word Nigger or Nigga is used
By a person white, black, yellow, or brown,

We can wipe out this degrading word
We can all do it together,

The word has become so used to everyone in the nation, we forget exactly what it means. Nobody remembers how cruel it was and how much it hurt our ancestors. And how can we, as blacks, expect everybody else to stop using the word if we continue to use it. It’s almost like they’re using it as a substitute for “Hey”. It comes out so natural and we think nothing of it. The way I see it is that if we don’t stop using the “N-word” then we can’t expect others too. Think about how you would feel if someone of a different race were to say that. Would you not get offended? Of course you would because you know what that word means, but yet you still continue to use it. If it’s so offending then why are you using it. A word that puts that much fire in your eyes shouldn’t be used. A word that can turn even the nicest of people to a person more cynical that the Devil himself. It shouldln’t be used in any context nonwhatsoever. That word is a word of pain and hurt that was used to put our ancestors down and I don’t think we should continue to hurt them anymore. The ones who fought for our freedom. The ones who fought just so we could have equal rights. And now we’re cursing them and everything they stood for. We’re not even thinking of it’s cruelty.

It’s……. Thoughtless Cruelty.

Maybe if the world would think before they said things then there wouldn’t be so much hate or so much racism or so much stereotypes. All we have to do is think.

Whoever “Saying Nigger Is Funnieh” is:

First of all: You need to learn how to spell correctly. The word is Funny, not Funnieh. Which tells me that maybe you need to go back to school.
Second of all: Your message shows that you ignorance is growing and that unless you were called a Nigger you wouldn’t feel the pain that I feel everyday.
Third of all: Your making a mockery of this article when you know that it’s against using the N-word and you use it a numerous amount of times in your comment.
Fourth: If it be possible, I’d like to know why you feel that way about Black people. You have to be taught those type of things. But regardless, that really actually took some thought to say all that. It was just plain CRUEL!

When black people stop acting like niggers, educate themselves and stop looking for a democrat hand out they might stop being called niggers. Stop blaming the white man for everything! Its not their fault you sit on your lazy ass, getting pregnant or getting some whore pregnant, smoking pot and waiting on a welfare check.
I came from a poor black neighborhood, made good grades, went to college and live in an upper middle class white neighborhood. I have never been called nigger because I don’t act like one or yell rascism everytime something doesn’t go my way.
I guess all the niggers will call me an uncle Tom, but that’s ok. I’m a wealthy respected Tom.

I just hate it when my brothas say that its “their word, Its not a word to own. Yes its true that racism is funny, and that free speech says that we can say whatever we want, but there are unspoken laws with that and people do get mad. I swore to myself that I would never say the n-word again, cause white people would go up to me and say, ” how come you can say it and i cant?”. Also the only reason the word was created was for the expressed tactic to create such a vitriolic type of relegation psychologically to the African American. The use of the word was only to be used as an inveigh of diatribe to forever condition the recipient of the intangible expression, that has a tangible effect, to be assimilated into the newly brainwashed being, filled with inferiority. beautiful poem, stefany. many questions in it, why do we embrace the word, use it in music, etc. because we have been called this for 400 years! if you call someone a name for 30 days they will retain it. of course we would still be using the word withought even thinking about it, because that is a natural result of slavery. can anyone grasp slavery in america was a 400 year way of life and not a one day event? that is why whether african americans are in n.y. or l.a. or any place in between, many of them use the word. that is because of the long use of the word for CENTURIES! it’s like people can’t see. it’s so natural because of 400 years of brainwashing, that we have to think about it to NOT use it, not the other way around. when james brown was saying i’m black and i’m proud, many blacks were still using the n word. it didn’t start in jails or in the street. it started on the plantation with the evil racist white men who started the word.

if i where white, and actually thought about it i would understand why blacks use it amongst themselves and it is offensive for whites to use it. it was whites, darlings, that used in with venom and hate for 400 years and still today, when they want to offend. it is us who took the word and flipped it and took the power from it by using it our way. that is all we can do because you’re never going to control what comes out of a persons mouth, they’re free to say whatever, no matter how ignorant. why ban nigger and not honky. i don’t like any racial slur, however the word nigger is more offensive due to the fact it originated in slavery and came with lynchings, beatings, seperating children from their mothers, murders, etc. the word honkey is not attached to anything of the kind and is usually used in reaction to what was done to us. as a response and not an original creation, so to speak. i guarantee you, if we had never been called niggers, the word honky or cracker would not exist.

go back to africa? you go back to europe, ignoramous. that is where you originated from. this is not your original land stupid, the only native americans are the indians, stupid. africa has places that are beautiful and rich, peaceful and crime free! you wouldn’t know that if all you know of africa is what you see on tv. the places of poverty and starvation and crime are portrayed. check out botswana and many other beautiful places. so we weren’t taken from a shithole, ignoramous. it’s more likely we were taken from beautiful, lush green land. poverty is actually the exception and not the rule. africa is a continent, ignoramous.

we don’t have to pay a way through enslavement or “earn” the right to be here. who actually pay to be seperated from their parents or husband and put into hard labor for what? the right to be a slave? we did build up a lot of this countries wealth, the only difference is we didn’t get paid for it or the right to read a book or buy land or vote or leave. i don’t owe this country anything. my ancestors have paid and suffered enough so that i can be here to educate ignoramous. i work for a fortune 500 company by the way, ignoramous, and am not on welfare. but if i did sit back and collected welfare from now till i died, i am justified, because my people suffered great attrocities and worked by the sweat of their brows and got nothing. i would collect it and smile. i’ve seen enough and know enough, and understand enough to know i don’t owe this country a goddamn thing. this country owes me. i suffered in my lifetime due to racists, not centuries ago, but recently. ignoramous hopefully you’ll pick up a book one day or even travel and get some firsthand education. then you won’t make an ass out of yourself.

I just revisited an old tape that I have by Paul Mooney called “Race”. His comdey routine is filled with cuss words and the so called n-word. However, many of his political views from that time came thru. As a people that have struggled for status on this portion of the continent North America, I see Mr. Mooney’s use of the word and other foul language as a means to express rage for our experience here. Why do so called black people call themselves the so called n word? This question is evidence of the hideous education of this “American” system.
If those of the dominant culture in this existing system are in fact alien to the land but are in control of the commerce and infastructure, I do believe that would qualify as an occupation of a foreign land. We are a few centuries into it. There is no wonder those in control have continued to produce a lop-sided picture of history. You want to remain in control. It is hard to look at your self and take responsibilty for your wrong-doings.
The indigenous nations that were on this continent when Colombus came were thriving communities of civilized beings who are dated back thousands of years. They were descendants of the Ancient Ones as are the so-called blacks are today. They are the wooley haired Washitaw and mound builders. William Penn described the so called Indians as “Black” as the “Gypsies of England”.
A horror such as the “American” enslavement can really turn to be a blessing for our people, as there is a certain uniqueness we have as a result of the tragedy. This is only if we choose to seek who we are in truth and not a distorted version of history that is riddled with denial and guilt. We do truly comprise many nations in our blood as a result of the breeding process imposed on many of us. As we get rid of the self hate we can love our selves and most naturally… others.
When we acknowledge these things the historical perspective changes and we can no longer be duped into believing a bunch of falsehood. Is the slave-master really going to teach his slave to think in terms of freedom? Hell-ta-tha-naw. Not if he still lusts for power. So the ignorant aliens who hate the true copper-colored North America should go back to where their ancestors resided instead of trying to displace the indigenous people of this land. Some daggone nerve. You’re going to come to someone’s house and tell them to leave? Now that’s ignorant. More ignorant than the n word.
Foreigners come, and rename indigenous people all these other names like Indian, (I thought India was in the east), Negro, Black, Colored, Latino etc. They conquered, enslaved, breeded, broke up families then reconstructed history for their own economic gain. Correctly, the people labeled Negro, Black and Colored are Moors. Until we leave ALL of the inferior names placed upon us, we will suffer for lack of knowledge. We know all of this is bullshit as there is ONE race. Stop runnin’ one.

Don’t think it’s a hate word, that’s just a lie. Nigger was a term of affection used by slave owners. It’s like a cute nickname one makes up for a pet. We love our niggers. When ya all coming home? We miss having you around on the plantations.
