Hollywood girl Nicole Richie was arrested for driving under the influence Monday morning.Richie, 25, the daughter of singer Lionel Richie, was booked at 4:50 a.m. in Glendale, Calif., and was released around 7:15 a.m., TMZ reported.
California Highway Patrol Officer Todd Workman told FOXNews.com that officers received a 911 call about a black SUV traveling the wrong way on the 134 freeway in Burbank around 12:30 a.m.When the California Highway Patrol responded, Richie was stopped in the carpool lane and was alone in the vehicle. When cops approached the vehicle, Richie was on her cell phone.
“She failed the field sobriety test at the field, so she was placed under arrest,” Workman said. ”
Nicole, being only 85 lbs probably got drunk off the evaporated beer in the bar’s air that we was at. I am surprised she has the strength to turn a steering wheel, or push down a gas peddle. Hopefully Nicole can get down to a reasonable 75 lbs before the holiday comes.

Nicole Richie could be adding stripes to her wardrobe in the very near future. TMZ has found court documents which reveal that Richie pled no contest four years ago to driving under the influence. Under California law, if Richie is convicted of DUI as a result of Monday’s arrest, the judge must impose a jail sentence.

Nicole Richie’s lawyer has forced another delay in the star’s trial for driving under the influence of alcohol, according to reports.
Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office spokeswoman Jane Robinson said: “The trial will not happen (today).
“Richie’s attorney filed a motion… stating that their key witness, a drug expert, was unavailable for trial.”
Both sides are due to appear in court on Wednesday to discuss the motion - but whatever the outcome, the trial will be delayed for at least one more day.
Richie had previously told CBS “Late Show” host David Letterman that she was worried about landing in jail, but was “willing to face whatever consequences come my way, and I take responsibility for what I’ve done.”
